Trump Rally in Kentucky Backfires, Leads to Democrat Victory in Governor’s Race

In polls leading up to the gubernatorial election in Kentucky, Republican Incumbent Matt Bevin held a 5-point lead over Democrat challenger Andy Beshear.

The day before the election, the President held a rally in Kentucky, urging voters to re-elect Bevin.

Mr. Trump said that electing Beshear would send “a message” to the country, and he wanted to send another.

However, in the immediate aftermath of Trump’s visit, Beshear jumped in the polls and won a surprising victory over Bevin.
