According to Holmes, the conversation took place in July between President Trump and Gordon Sondland, the U.S. ambassador to the European Union.
Holmes explained to the House yesterday that Trump directly solicited the help from Ukraine and that Ambassador Sondland said that the new Ukrainian President would do anything to help Trump, as the newly elected President did not want to lose favor with the United States.
Demanding something in return for a political action is considered a bribe and, even if not delivered, is still a federal offense.
Republicans in the House have been attacking Democrats for not bringing in firsthand witnesses to corroborate the President's alleged crimes. However, next week several firsthand witnesses will give public testimony.
Holmes is now another firsthand witness to Mr. Trump's alleged criminal offenses.
