Turkey States “There is No Ceasefire” with Kurds

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo Meets with Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu
After abandoning the Kurds in northern Syria last week and warning Turkey not to invade, Turkey immediately invaded, killing dozens of Kurdish civilians and soldiers.

In response, President Trump called for a ceasefire, while also saying that the two sides should simply “fight” and get it over with.

Yesterday, Vice President Pence claimed that the US negotiated a cease-fire between Turkey and the Kurds.

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu, however, scoffed at the notion of an end to hostilities.

He stated Friday that the agreement was a "pause in Turkey's operation" and "not a ceasefire."
