While the President was hosting a 2020 rally, General Mattis was joking about Mr. Trump.
"I’m not just an overrated general," Mattis said, referring to the President calling him as such, "I am the greatest, the world’s most overrated... I'm honored to be considered that by Donald Trump because he also called Meryl Streep an overrated actress. So I guess I'm the Meryl Streep of generals.
"Frankly, that sounds pretty good to me," he added.
Later in the event, General Mattis went further, quipping, "I earned my spurs on the battlefield; Donald Trump earned his spurs from the doctor."
Here is the clip of General Mattis talking about being "overrated:"
