Sanders Okay After Heart Stent Procedure
Vermont Senator and top-tier Democratic Party presidential candidate Bernie Sanders is recovering after having two heart stents inserted to address a blockage in an artery, reported POLITICO earlier today.
Sanders, who fought former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton for the Democratic Party nomination in 2016, is the oldest candidate seeking the party's national banner this time around.
Although the longtime independent Socialist from Burlington is underperforming his polling numbers from four years ago, he remains a top tier candidate alongside former Vice-President Joe Biden and neighboring Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren.
As noted by POLITICO, Sanders has not faced the same measure of scrutiny about his age as Biden has, despite Sanders being two years the senior. This lack of scrutiny has been aided by Sanders' aggressive campaign schedule and boundless stamina.
According to his campaign the candidate will be resting for a few days.
