Today on Twitter, President Trump announced that he had secretly invited high-level Taliban officials to Camp David to negotiate:

The news came just four days before the anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks, which were orchestrated by al Qaeda, which had found safe haven in the Taliban-run nation of Afghanistan.
