Mueller: My Report Did Not Exonerate President
Speaking from a podium today, in a rare public appearance Special Counsel Robert Mueller declared that his report did not exonerate the President from wrongdoing.
“If we had had confidence that the President clearly did not commit a crime, we would have said so,” Mueller stated bluntly.
Mr. Trump, since AG Barr released his "summary" and the redacted Mueller report was released, has vacillated between claiming the report vindicated him and excoriating the report, calling it a "fake witch hunt."
Believing charging the President was unconstitutional, however, Mueller decided not to make a decision on whether the President had ultimately done anything to earn him an indictment.
“Charging the president with a crime was therefore not an option we could consider,” Mr. Mueller explained.
